Anime − it's everywhere these days, and for a reason: it's got atmosphere, it's got attitude, and it just plain rocks!
You've seen anime… now experience it! On our Anime Experience program, you will gain a new perspective on this art form through visiting a famous animation school, touring the amazing Ghibli Museum, shopping in Akihabara… an amazing journey for the senses. You will also learn and use the language of anime: Japanese! Studying at a language school in the morning and coming home to a Japanese host family will certainly give you an excellent chance to improve your skills.
The Anime Experience program is a unique experience, combining animation creation, sight-seeing, language study, culture experience and a chance to meet a Japanese family into a fun-filled week you're not likely to forget.

Toho Gakuen Digital Animation Department Tour and Experience
Toho Gakuen Professional Training College was originally created by TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System, one of the main television studios in Japan) as the “TBS Computer School” in 1969. It has since gone on to great things, quickly growing into an educational foundation and gaining great respect over the years. Graduates of the school are highly sought-after in Japan as well as abroad, speaking to the quality of the training and creativity of its students.
As part of the Anime Experience program, you will tour the Digital Animation Department (read: training grounds for the creators of the next hot anime!) and see how anime is created using 3D animation tools such as 3DS Max, After Effects, and others. You will also hear how the students plan for their future jobs while at the school and how they enter the market.
Ghibli Museum Visit
“This is the Kind of Museum I Want to Make!
A museum that is interesting and which relaxes the soul
A museum where much can be discovered
A museum based on a clear and consistent philosophy
A museum where those seeking enjoyment can enjoy, those seeking to ponder can ponder, and those seeking to feel can feel
A museum that makes you feel more enriched when you leave than when you entered!”
Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki’s museum creation outline really sums up the museum (and his movies, as well!):
The Ghibli Museum is so popular in Japan that you must make reservations in advance to visit it… and on our program, you will get a chance to visit it and even have an English tour.
The museum really lives up to Miyazaki's ideals, and we're sure you will enjoy your visit there, even if you haven't seen any of the films
Visit Akihabara, the “Otaku World”!
You'll visit Akihabara, a place filled with electronics shops, anime and figurine stores, and even "maid cafes". You're sure to see some interesting people roaming the streets, and maybe even quite a bit of stuff you can't find in stores in your home country.
Japanese Language Lessons
You will study basic survival Japanese during your week on the program at a well-established language school Intercultural Institute of Japan. The school has been around for 30 years and has many programs including 1 week courses, so they know how to teach you a lot in only a little bit of time. They also have longer courses, which are very popular with students from around the world.
Homestay
To know Japan, you must know "the Japanese"! Your homestay may be the most memorable part of your time here. Practice the Japanese you learned in class with your host family, and of course, be sure to check out the restaurants or tourist spots they recommend; no one knows better than the locals! |
